Birthin' Again ~ Refresher classes for the growing family

"We've been through it once before so I don't think we'll need classes again..." Sound familar?

Too often parents assume that what they experienced and learned from their first delivery will be what they can expect the second time around. The truth of the matter is, every birth is different, and having given birth before, your next delivery can have some pretty major changes to it!

What will you need to know if this delivery is significantly faster than the first? What will your partner need to look out for to be sure you call your midwife or go to the hospital on time? How can you prepare for a vaginal birth after cesarean? And how do your emotions about your first birth influence the way you prepare for and experience this one?

These are a few of the questions we'll be answering in our Birthin' Again course with you. Having completed the class, you'll not only be prepared for the unqiue experience of birthing the second (or third or fifth!) time around, you'll refresh your memories and bodies of the coping practices that will help you through labour, gain a deeper understanding of effective support for this birth, learn a variety of ways to prepare your child(ren) for your new baby and have some much-needed time to really bring your mind to enjoying and welcoming your new child.

Our Birthin' Again classes are offered as private classes that will take place in your home at a time that is convenient for you. Or, if you and a friend would like to do it together, just let me know! I'm happy to give you a group deal!

Class Overview:

• Birth processing ~ healing any previous birth trauma and connecting with what worked from your previous birth experience
• Connecting with your children ~ preparing your older child for a new baby and learning to connect with a new baby in the midst of fast-paced family life
• Labour support ~ a refresher on practical pain coping techniques and the stages of labour
• Epdirual and Cesarean refresher ~ whether it's in the plan or a surprise, it goes a long way to know your options and the routines of medical support
